We have lived in a fabulous home in Sugar City, ID for almost two years and have loved each minute. However, our time here has been cut short due to a job transfer. We hope another family will come to enjoy the home, land, neighborhood, community, and view as much as we have.
The Home
Of the seven homes we’ve lived in, this has been our favorite. All its wonderful aspects make it hard to pinpoint just one reason why we love it so much. Perhaps it is the comfortable layout of the family room upstairs that welcomes children or guests into a bright and warm common area. Or maybe it is the kitchen, great room, and dining room so seamlessly connected that people just naturally sit down wherever they are and visit and enjoy one another. Then again, it could be the bedrooms themselves and their combination of being cozy yet filled with light. With all the light designed to flow into this home, it stays remarkably warm in the winter, yet the well-positioned fans and windows keep it pleasant in the summer.
This lot is perfect for many a football, soccer, or baseball game. We’ve even flown kites in our own backyard! Here, our children can run and roam freely while mom can still watch them through the back windows. Our transfer cuts into our plans of landscaping and gardening this summer. Local farmers help cultivate the hay field, but we’d hoped to have aspens and pines accenting the home, with an expansive patio off the porch behind the kitchen. Eventually, we anticipated building a combination guest home and shop like our neighbors have done.
The Neighbors
Ah, the neighbors. This neighborhood is actually the best part of all. With a delightsome mix of young families and grandparents, you get it all here. There is nothing better than having one of the many little girls show up at your doorstep asking to play and giving you a bouquet of dandelions. It is infectious to see the enthusiasm of the teenage boys on their snowmobiles in the winter and ATV’s in the summer. One of them anonymously shoveled our driveway all winter. That’s just how they are here. They are wonderful. The parents? These are people you can trust, people you can enjoy, people who have taught us to be better neighbors.
The Community
The View
We have lived in many places, most recently in Carmel, CA overlooking the ocean. But there is just something about this view – where the sun bursts over Mount Moran and the Grand Teton every morning in a blaze of light and hope. As the sun washes over the Targhee Mountains and the swaths of fertile farmland, one can’t help but be inspired. The designer evidently sensed this, for he built a bank of windows all along the eastward face of the home so that from any of those rooms, one could soak in the view. We only wish you could be here at sunrise.
We only wish we could stay. Enjoy!
